AI engineers work on the development of artificial intelligence solutions that provide solutions and decision support based on data / big data to solve complex problems. In reality, AI engineer jobs cover a wide range of scopes and tasks throughout the value chain: design, data collection, implementation, training, optimisation, etc. Unlike the machine learning engineer, who designs the predictive models directly and develops the software needed to automate them, the AI engineer, who works in collaboration with the machine learning engineers, will generally be more involved in implementing the artificial intelligence 'building blocks' initially developed by ML engineers and available as open source or as a pay-as-you-go version on platforms, in order to implement solutions that meet the expectations of business lines and/or internal (or external) customers.
