Originally emerging from SaaS and software environments, the Customer Success Manager (CSM) is responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, overseeing the deployment and usage of a solution or service, which may include custom developments. As a key player in optimizing client relationships, this role is integral to the commercial strategy of SaaS solutions and is increasingly expanding into service-based industries as well. Salaries remain relatively stable at the junior level. However, the more complex the solution, the larger the client portfolio, or the more strategic the accounts, the higher the compensation for experienced professionals. The most senior profiles often progress to leading a CSM team or transitioning into Product roles.
